All my days I will sing this song of gladness, Give my praise to the fountain of delight, For in my helplessness, You heard my cry, And waves of mercy poured down on my life

Orange is the way to go!

Meet our new princess: Ariane! She was born last tuesday and today her father revealed her name. She's the third daughter of our crown prince Willem Alexander and his wife Maxima. You know, I just love the royals. The family of Oranje (Orange!) Nassou is the only thing that binds us dutch people together. Well besides sports...but that's only when we win! But when a new Orange baby is born, everyone is just so excited! People congratulate each other and put the dutch flag up! Hip, hip, hooray! Our crown prince is a bit stiff but his wife Maxima makes up for all that he lacks and their children are just so cute! Speculations are that he will become king in 10 years time. Who knows? Our Queen Beatrice is doing a mighty fine job so I think she's going to wait untill the prince and his princesses have had a bit more time together as family before his mad life as a king will commence. Luckily the royals aren't haunted by the press as they do in Great Britain and we don't have that many scandals in the family either. Now I think of it; we do! But when Maxima entered the royal scene she really boasted the image of the family. Maxima is a beautiful blond from Argentina with a big smile and lots of passion. Just what the family needed. Now I will conclude my serenade of the Royals. Like them, love them, don't want to be them!

Party animal...

Mister Pig will party no more...his head...still in one piece...shortly after this photo was taken, the piggy's head was chopped in half by a strong romanian with an axe...it could come straight from a horror book and I witnessed this brutal act. I know what you did last summer... Needless to say I was not amused...but strangely enough it is rather fascinating as well so you have to look. I must admit I prefer to go to my lovely huge supermarket around the corner and buy a totally unrecognisable piece of meat. Preferably no pig...I will need some time to recover from the Nightmare of the Horror head!A very proud father of the bride. It was a lovely wedding but I kept thinking of the life my friend was going to live now. This village was far from prosperous and she herself said that life was very hard. I can only pray she will keep the strenght and the love to see through all the poverty and discomfort and will find her way in this village.
All dressed up for the wedding! No...I didn't get flowers from any Romanian lovers...these were the flowers for the bride. She was very busy taking photos so I was made flower girl. And the real bouquet? Well I didn't catch it...an already married woman fought for it with a single woman. She won but when the truth came she already had a husband, she had to throw it again and some 9 year old catched it... My time will come!

Party all night long! And we did! Boy, those romanians can sure dance! And eat and drink. Lots and lots of Palika and wine. For some reason all these old men kept make signals to me to toast with them and drink some Palinka (hardcore alcohol). As well-mannerd as I am I just toasted with them and drank my fair share of liquids...from a distance you cannot tell the difference between Palinka and a fizzy drink like Sprite! They're happy, I'm happy. They're drunk and I'm not! Well we danced till morning came...at 6 in the morning the band stopped playing and we could finally go to bed! This must be one of the most special weddings I've ever been to and will go to! A very special memory.

Viva la Romania!

Just a quick wee blog on my trip to Budapest and Romania. No words can describe what I've seen and experienced. Simply amazing. What a different world. I'll write a longer blog soon but now I'm back at work and there's lots and lots to do.
The Parliament in Budapest. What a beautiful city. Especially by night. WOW!

I should be more careful what I wish for. Remember my blog with the cows saying; eat more chicken... Well we did eat a lot more chicken! 30 chickens in total were brutally killed for our feast meal. And even more disturbing was the slaughtering of the pig... just to keep you interested I will put that photo on my next blog...

The church in Archid. The happy couple; Bettie and Efri
Check me out! Most transport is by a horses wagon... So much fun! Bumpy road and a drunken driver...
